GMM Group hosts Axel Johnson International’s Annual Meeting

The event was attended by the managers of the 35 companies making up the Swedish group’s Power Transmission Solution division.

In January, GMM hosted the annual meeting of the Power Transmission Solution division of the Swedish group Axel Johnson International, which became the majority shareholder of the GMM Group last September. The event was attended by the Managing Directors of the 35 companies that make up the division. The first day, devoted to internal meetings, was held at the Executive Hotel convention centre in Fiorano Modenese.

The second day was hosted in the showroom of Florim Ceramiche, which was actively involved in organising the event. The conference session, which focused on the unique characteristics of Italy’s Ceramic Valley, was opened by Prof. Tiziano Bursi (Professor of Economics and Internationalisation at the University of Modena and Reggio Emilia), who illustrated the ceramic sector’s competitive environment.

This was followed by a fascinating account of the history of Florim, which has been producing design-oriented ceramic surfaces for more than sixty years with a focus on sustainability and innovation and was the first ceramic group in the world to become a Benefit Corporation and gain B Corp certification. The conference was concluded with a talk by GMM illustrating the company’s 50-year entrepreneurial journey, including acquisitions and international ventures.

To get a first-hand view of state-of-the-art ceramic production, guests also had the opportunity to visit Florim’s ultra-modern Plant 2, where Industry 4.0 technology has been combined with best manufacturing practices.
