Gold Art Ceramica commissions Cefla Impianti to build a cogeneration system
Cefla Impianti (Imola) is building a new high-efficiency cogeneration plant for Gold Art Ceramiche, a ceramic tile manufacturer based in Pavullo (Modena) which produces 15 million sq.m/year of porcelain floor tiles for interiors and exteriors and single fired wall tiles sold under the EnergieKer brand name.
The company decided to adopt a cogeneration system contemporaneously with its project to build a new grinding and body preparation plant. The cogeneration system will meet the factory’s entire electricity requirements by supplying electrical power of 5 MWe. The thermal energy of the exhaust fumes (more than 11 MWt) will be entirely recovered by the new Sacmi ATM200 spray dryer. Given the high energy efficiency (>95%), the system has gained CAR (Italian acronym for “High-Efficiency Cogeneration”) classification.
Boasting more than 30 years of experience in building cogeneration systems, with particular expertise in the ceramic sector, Cefla will not only supply the turnkey plant but will also offer a maintenance and remote monitoring service.
Antonio Bellei, head of the Gold Art Ceramiche plant, commented: "Thanks to the high heat recovery capacity of the new spray dryer, the cogeneration plant can be used intensively and will guarantee considerable energy savings. And given the adequate size of the system and the development of a control and supervision system, cogeneration will be optimised according to our production requirements and the values of specific parameters will be constantly monitored with a view to obtaining energy efficiency certificates."
