Graniser chooses Sacmi for its new porcelain tile line
As part of its long-term plant modernisation plan, Graniser Seramik (Izmir, Turkey) recently started up a complete new line for the manufacture of porcelain tiles.
The plant, which was supplied by Sacmi, has a production capacity of 8,000 m2/day, and has allowed Graniser to widen its size ranges with the introduction of the 80x80 cm size, alongside the 60x60 and 60x120 cm, as well as the tile thicknesses up to 20 mm, whose market demand is rising.
Sacmi supply for the new plant includes an MMC 092 mill and the ATM 65 spray drier, two new PH 6500 presses equipped with several different mould kits (for both upper and lower moulding) and two EVA 984 driers with special 20 mm thickness kits.
To complement the two glazing systems supplied by Intesa, Sacmi Digital has provided all-new DHD digital printers featuring Dimatix heads. The firing department adopts a new 130-metre FMS 285 kiln, equipped with an XTR heat recovery system, which can increase temperatures in combustion zones by up to 300 °C. Lastly, Nuova Sima supplied all the product handling solutions, which include laser-guided vehicles and two sorting lines.
Sacmi was also involved in the renewal of Graniser existing lines with the installation of two PH 3590 presses, which now bring to five the number of Sacmi presses operated by the Turkish company.
