Growth in international attendance at Cevisama 2011
Following the fall in numbers during the period 2009-2010 due to the continued international crisis and its impact on the building market, the international ceramic tile, natural stone and bathroom furnishings show Cevisama returned to positive growth in 2011. The Spanish exhibition, which ended on 11 February, reported an 8% rise in numbers of exhibitor companies compared to the previous year’s show. Total attendance dropped slightly (77,104 compared to 78,962 in 2010, down by 2%) as a result of the inevitable fall in numbers of Spanish buyers in the continued climate of stagnation in the local market. However, international attendance showed a marked increase (+14%) to 12,489 (compared to 10,946 in 2010), consisting of visitors from 148 different countries (133 in 2009). The share of professionals attending remained high, with architects, interior designers and industrial designers making up 23% of the total.
Euro zone countries such as Italy, Portugal, Germany and Belgium were the top countries of origin of visitors. There was a significant increase in numbers of visitors from Russia (+65%) and from the former Soviet republics. Also out in force were buyers from India (+26%) and the Americas, who practically doubled in number. The final figures reveal an increase in numbers of US and Canadian buyers, as well as a large turnout of visitors from Brazil, Peru, Colombia, Argentina, Costa Rica and Panama.
Arab countries were represented by 1,590 professionals in attendance during the five days of the show.
Cevisama 2012 will take place from 7-10 February 2012.
