Gruppo Sanitari Italia: Lower consumption and emissions with the new Sacmi-Riedhammer kiln
Compared to traditional sanitaryware shuttle kilns, the new Sacmi-Riedhammer kiln which was started up by GSI (Gallese, province of Viterbo, Italy) allows for the possibility to save up to 13,620 tons of CO2 emissions a year.
This result is obtained while also achieving optimal output quality thanks to particularly uniform in-kiln temperatures (+/- 5 °C temperature variation during product firing) and a consumption of just 1200 kcal per kg of fired product.
The key investment of GSI aims at strengthening and broadening its leadership position in the Italian ceramic sanitaryware industry. The new shuttle kiln - model HWSD 15/500/100-G - is equipped with REKO burners and is characterised by an effective firing volume of 75 cubic metres, equal to 10+10 kiln cars; different sanitaryware items can be loaded with the utmost flexibility (from fine fire clay to very large, complex pieces) and the machine has an effective height of 1000 mm.
Equipped with innovative PL9 ECO burners from the REKO range, the system ensures maximum efficiency in terms of quality, productivity, lower energy consumption and relative emissions.
In particular, REKO burners - together with innovative technology for pre-heating the air and gas in the combustion chamber - ensure excellent temperature uniformity in the tunnel, with highly flexible cycles and energy/emissions savings capable of making the entire line more competitive and efficient.
To complete the picture, note that the kiln is integrated with automated product loading and handling systems, designed by Sacmi to reduce bulk and boost the logistic efficiency of the plant.
