Guocera's large-scale projects

A project has been launched to construct the third Malaysian production facility of Guocera Holdings, the tile sector business unit of the Hong Leong Industries Berhad (HLI) group, thereby strengthening its leadership in an area where it already holds a 28% market share.

The facility will be located in Kluang, Johor (Southern Malaysia) and will become operational by the end of the first four months of 2011. Together with the two existing facilities, also owned by the company, Guocera will produce around 38.3 million square metres of tiles per year.

In April the Vietnamese group also completed a joint venture with Infrastructure Development and Construction Corp (Licogy), Vietnam, a company operating in the construction and infrastructure sector. The partnership has given rise to a new company, controlled 97% by Guocera Tile Industries, which will run a factory for porcelain tile production currently owned by Licogy and located in the province of Dong Nai (Southern Vietnam).

The operation will entail an investment of USD 5.45 million and will enable Guocera to strengthen its presence in the Vietnamese market.
