A 7-layer horizontal dryer and a latest-generation kiln made by ICF&Welko are now fully operational at the Tuscania Ceramiche facility in Serramazzoni (Modena).
Both machines were built in Italy using the highest quality materials and represent the state of the art in ceramic tile drying and firing. In particular, they stand out for the exceptional quality of the finished products and their capacity to produce around 10,000 sqm/day in a wide range of sizes and in thicknesses up to 30 mm.
Their consumption levels are amongst the lowest in their category. The dryer and kiln are both fitted with the latest equipment, including the new IWB range of high-efficiency burners which deliver excellent performance in terms of fuel consumption, temperature uniformity across the firing channel and reduced NOx and CO emissions.
Further advantages of the IWB burner include its wide operating range, which is also optimal when using modulated gas and air (stoichiometric combustion ratio kept constant as the required capacity varies). Ease of maintenance and inspection as well as enhanced swirl mixing are additional characteristics that will establish the IWB burner as a standard component of future ICF&Welko kilns, particularly in anticipation of the use of hydrogen-methane blends as fuels.
This latest supply agreement with Tuscania involved a high level of customisation and marks a further step forward in the process of growth and market consolidation of ICF&Welko, a longstanding Maranello-based company now owned by the Keda group and one of the pioneers in the field of kilns and dryers for large-size ceramic tiles and slabs.
