Imerys Group reports increase in turnover
The greatest growth came in the second quarter, +8.4% over the same period in 2003. Operational cash flow increased by 8.9% to reach 218 million euro.
All the Group’s divisions (Specialty Minerals, Pigments for Paper, Building Materials and Refractories & Abrasives) recorded positive results. In particular the Specialty Minerals division, which accounts for 28% of total turnover, closed the half year with sales of 405.6 million euro, 3.3% up on the same period last year.
The European ceramic market has shown a slight recovery in both tiles and sanitaryware, while demand continues to grow in Asian and North American markets. In the six-month period the Group also pressed on with its production reorganisation and cost containment plan at its facilities in the USA and the UK. In February 2004, the Group acquired Burton-Apta, a Hungarian producer of refractory kiln furniture.
The company’s name was changed to Imerys Magyarország Tüzálloanyagyártó Kft and it was fully integrated into the existing Imerys Kiln Furniture. Imerys Kiln Furniture is taking part in Tecnargilla for the first time this year (Claytech section).
