Ladrillera Fortaleza chooses automation from Marcheluzzo
The Peruvian company has installed a new automated packaging line at its Huachipa factory, eliminating much of the manual work and increasing productivity.
Grupo Cerámicos Fortaleza, a Peruvian brick manufacturer with a portfolio spanning a variety of formats and sizes, approached Marcheluzzo to solve a critical situation in the fired material unloading area at the kiln exit. The challenge involved optimising a stage of the process by incorporating modern robot technology into a context where products are largely handled manually. Marcheluzzo engineers visited the Huachipa facility and carried out a detailed study of the production environment (process parameters and the type of materials to be handled). Together with the customer, they agreed that the best solution would be to completely replace the packaging line in order to eliminate much of the manual work and significantly improve daily productivity.
The proposed plant is capable of unloading the various types of material from the kiln cars layer by layer so that a new transport pack can be reformed and any waste can be handled during the reforming phase. By carefully designing the grippers attached to the robots, it is also possible to correct for erroneous positioning of materials on the cars due to operations that continue to be performed manually.
The new investment will maximise the firing system’s capacity of around 900 tonnes/day, resulting in greater efficiency.
The recent order delivered to Ladrillera Fortaleza highlights Marcheluzzo’s position as a trusted partner for South American companies. Marcheluzzo has been actively engaged in this market for many years, providing plants and solutions to prominent brick manufacturers. These solutions encompass a wide range of services, including targeted improvements to existing production lines and the delivery of fully integrated turnkey systems.
