Ladrillera San Cristóbal continues the energy transition
With the installation of its new photovoltaic system, the company takes a concrete step toward achieving carbon neutrality in the brick industry.
Marking an important step towards a cleaner and more efficient production model, Colombian brickmaker Ladrillera San Cristóbal recently installed 8,000 square metres of solar panels on the roof of its factory in Medellín.
The array will generate up to 145,000 kWh of energy per month and avoid an estimated 18,000 tonnes of CO₂ emissions over the next 25 years.
The project complements existing sustainability initiatives including the use of natural gas, rainwater harvesting and heat recovery.
