Lamosa acquires Porcelanite

The acquisition of Porcelanite by the Mexican group Lamosa reached completion at the end of 2007. The USD 807 million acquisition was carried through using capital provided by some of the world’s largest banking groups.
Lamosa is an industrial group that operates in the sectors of tiles, sanitaryware and ceramic adhesives as well as real-estate.

Following the acquisition of Porcelanite, the group has become one of the largest in the ceramic sector with an annual output of around 120 million sq.m of tiles manufactured at ten production facilities and sold under the Porcelanite, Lamosa, Itálica, Firenze Tecnoarte and Alessandra brand names. Sanitaryware production at four sites amounts to 3.5 million pieces/year.
Lamosa now intends to launch a public offering to a value of USD 250 million with the objective of recovering part of the capital invested in the acquisition of Porcelanite.
