Lamosa makes new investments in production

25/08/04 - The Lamosa Group, the oldest Mexican tile manufacturer which also produces sanitaryware, bricks and tile fixing adhesives, is continuing to make large-scale investments to boost tile production capacity.

Along with the floor and wall tile facility at San Luis Potosí opened in 2003 and the factory at Benito Juárez City (Nuevo Leon) opened last spring (an investment of US $23.5), a new complete single fired floor tile line will be started up by the end of 2004 in the Group’s factory in Tlaxcala.
The line, entirely designed and supplied by the Barbieri & Tarozzi Group, will have a production capacity of 8,500 square metres/day and will include two VIS 2000/1750 presses, an 11.32 metre five-channel horizontal dryer, a single-channel roller kiln of length 111 metres with an 11 metre pre-kiln and a buffer for incoming unfired product and outgoing fired product.

With this series of investments, the Lamosa Group is aiming to further strengthen its position in the domestic market and above all abroad. In the first half of 2004, the Mexican Group reported an increase of 7.3% in turnover and 3.4% in operating results over the first half of 2003, but a 24.9% fall in net profits due to the substantial investments in technology.
