Leonardo 1502 updates its plants

26/07/04 - Leonardo 1502, a company which in July 2004 renewed its EMAS and ISO 14000 environmental certifications and ISO 9001:2000 company quality certification, is continuing to upgrade its production plant.

The company has now completed installation of the new Rolls-Royce cogeneration plant for the combined production of electrical and heat energy which will become operational in September 2004.
In March this year it started up a Colormix colorimetric system from Electron for automatic batching of screen printing pastes.
The system is integrated with the Gretag Macbeth spectrophotometer and Propalette Ceramics Gretag Macbeth software for colour formulation, correction, quality control and recovery of production waste.
A key feature of the system is its high degree of versatility and flexibility, making it capable of meeting preparation requirements ranging from the laboratory to variable production batches in real time and with a high degree of precision.

Leonardo 1502 is currently installing a new line for the production of large-format tiles, including a Sacmi press and a glazing line complete with Rotocolor machines for decoration of 60x60 cm size tiles.
After a year of experimentation the company has started up an Axiom Integrale automatic sorting system for finished product.
This will be able to perform colour and defect inspection entirely automatically, complementing the colour matching systems that have already been in operation for a number of years.
