Logistics, System Group launches Global Store System

17/1/2003 - The Emilceramica Group of Fiorano, led by chairman Villiam Tioli, will be one of the first companies to adopt the Global Store System, the new solution for handling and managing ceramic tiles recently launched by System Logistics, the System Group division that specialises in complete logistic solutions.
The aim of the new technology is to reduce delivery times and costs. It took System two years and an R and D investment of 2 million euro to develop Global Store. Emilceramica will invest a total of 20 million euro in the system, including a new purpose-designed warehouse with a covered area of 16,000 square metres to be built on a site between Fiorano Modenese and Sassuolo.
According to System Group's Chairman Franco Stefani, "This is the first example of logistic innovation in the ceramic sector with the objective of streamlining and facilitating the procedures of sorting and processing orders based on an integrated solution for internal logistics and preparation of orders for shipment."

The System Group expects to close fiscal 2003 with a 13% increase in consolidated turnover to 150 million euro. Growth will be driven by exports (which account for 75% of turnover), largely to South and East Asia (particularly China, Vietnam and Indonesia) and Eastern Europe. This year will also see the opening of new subsidiaries in Poland and Russia, following the 9 already operating in Spain, Brazil, Singapore, Turkey, Mexico, USA, China, Indonesia and the Czech Republic and indirect subsidiaries in Portugal, Iran and India.
The System Group closed fiscal 2002 with a turnover of 133 million euro, 4% up on the previous year. The domestic market has shown strong growth (+12%) thanks to Italian sales in the automatic warehouse sector. Exports have also performed well due to growth in markets such as Russia and China. The Group's most important foreign market is Spain. The Group markets its technologies in 56 countries in Southeast Asia, the Middle East, South Africa, the United States, Brazil and other areas of South America.
