Marazzi continues growth

08/07/05 - The Marazzi Group closed fiscal 2004 with a turnover of 777 million euro, 4% up on 2003. Profitability also rose, with EBITDA up by 9.1% to 102.8 million euro, operating earnings (EBIT) of 56 million euro (+14.8%) and pre-tax profits of 30.8 million euro (30.5% up on the 23.6 million euro of the previous year).
A total of 89.1 million square metres of Marazzi tiles were sold worldwide (+3%). Sales were up by 2% in the main European markets, although the greatest increases were in Russia (up 23% to 10.5 million euro) and the United States, where earnings totalled 135.5 million euro.

In 2004 the Group’s total production amounted to 83.2 million sq.m, remaining stable in Italy and the rest of Europe (Spain and France accounting for 28% of the total) and increasing significantly in the United States (up 15% to 13.4 million sq.m) where Marazzi is now the second largest company with a 6% market share.

Following the acquisition of the Welor Kerama Group and completion of the Malino factory, the Marazzi Group has become the leading manufacturer and main Italian industrial investor in Russia.

Initial results for the current year are also very positive.
The first quarter brought a consolidated turnover of 205.3 million euro, 7.2% up on the same period in 2004, and an 18.8% increase in production to 26.5 million sq.m.
Profitability is increasing, with EBITDA at 33 million euro (38% up on the first quarter of 2004 to 16.1% of turnover), operating earnings (EBIT) of 20.2 million euro (+50%) and pre-tax profits up from the 7.8 million euro of the first quarter of 2004 to more than 18 million euro this year (+133%).
