Marazzi Group signs agreement to develop solar wall and roof tiles

A major partnership agreement has been signed between Marazzi Group and the China-based Sinocome Group, one of the world leaders in the production of solar panels based on amorphous silicon technology.
Scientific cooperation between the two companies will be targeted at the development of new applications of these technologies on ceramic substrates.

The project will involve two phases: scientific and technological cooperation for research and development in the field of solar cells on a ceramic substrate (known as “solar wall tiles” or “solar roof tiles”) and if possible the production of a pilot plant for the large-scale production of solar tiles.
The agreement was reached as part of the Chinese trade mission to Italy, which culminated in the Italy - China Forum attended by Chinese President Hu Jintao and Italian Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi and ending with the signing ceremony for the most important agreements reached between Italian and Chinese companies.

The agreement between Marazzi and Sincome was officially signed by Maurizio Piglione, managing director of Marazzi Group, and Ma Xin, Chairman and CEO of Sinocome Group and a well-known scientist in China.
The project is eligible for 50% public co-funding as established for programmes on renewable energies abroad deriving from the two-year agreement signed last March by the undersecretary for Economic Development Adolfo Urso, the Association of Italian companies for renewable energy (APER) and the Italian Trade Commission (ICE).
