MEP Tajani becomes Vice-Chair of EP Ceramics Forum
Italian MEP Antonio Tajani was nominated Vice-Chair of the European Parliament Ceramics Forum (EPCF) at the welcome lunch held in Brussels on 8 October 2014. Mr Tajani is currently Vice-President of the European Parliament; formerly he was Vice-President of the European Commission and Commissioner for Enterprise and Industry.
Mr Tajani took this occasion to reiterate the positive impact of a competitive European ceramic industry on growth and jobs. He underlined the importance of striking a balance between the EU's climate and industrial policies. Moreover, he called for the EU to foster free and fair trade and to fight unfair trade practices such as dumping.
As EPCF Vice-Chair Mr Tajani will be working alongside other MEPs committed to the European ceramic industry, namely current EPCF Chair MEP Paul Rübig (AT) and EPCF Vice-Chairs MEPs Jean-Paul Denanot (FR), Anthea McIntyre (UK), Sîon Simon (UK), Neena Gill (UK), Esteban González Pons (ES) and Inmaculada Rodríguez-Piñero (ES).
