It has 3,320 employees, a group turnover in excess of 830 million in 2002 and an export percentage in the region of 80%. Between 1998 and 2001, Sacmi assigned almost 3 million euro to liberal and cultural donations: "The Sacmi Imola cooperative," explained managing director Eugenio Emiliani, "has strongly developed the concept of solidarity initiatives in recent years. The activities conducted by the Group in 2002 and the most recent donation to the Southern African Wildlife College are further examples of the importance that Sacmi attaches to issues of health, social and cultural development, environment protection and the future of the planet."

Sacmi Imola's support for the initiative is strongly linked to the company's focus on health and environmental issues, as further demonstrated by its efforts to minimise the environmental impact of its factories and to safeguard the health of employees. After gaining Vision 2000 quality certification and ISO 14001 Environmental Management System certification, in recent weeks Sacmi Imola has also received OHSAS 18001 certification for its Health and safety management system. Since 2000 the Group has succeeded in reducing accidents in the workplace by 80%.
