New company Opera is set up

27/04/07 - The new company Opera, specialising in engraving punches for tile production, began operating at the end of March this year in Casalgrande (province of Reggio Emilia, Italy).

Opera uses an innovative technology developed by Newtech for high-definition relief engraving, which eliminates the construction of master moulds and shortens timeframes for creating new ceramic products.

The time period from the design of the ceramic surface to the punch is just 60 minutes for the more traditional sizes with little surface relief or between 2 and 4 hours for larger sizes with highly complex surfaces.

The high level of definition of the relief cannot be achieved using conventional methods.

Besides creating new product types, an additional advantage is the complete elimination of the hundreds of master moulds currently stored in ceramic companies' warehouses, resulting in substantially lower costs.

In parallel to its launch on the Italian market, the company has also opened Iberica Opera in Castellón, a branch which will offer the Spanish market the same third-party service as that provided by the Italian parent company.
