Piemme chooses Siti-B&T
Siti-B&T has started up a modern new production line at the facility of Ceramiche Piemme in Solignano (Modena). The plant has been in operation since August and is one of the most significant projects carried through by Siti-B&T in Italy in the last two years. The plant is designed for the production of glazed porcelain tile with coloured body in sizes ranging from 300x300 mm to 900x1200 mm.
The supply package consisted of 2 single-channel roller kilns with feeding channel of width 2850 mm and each of length 97.68 m equipped with modern heat recovery systems to reduce gas consumption, 4 latest-generation EVO series hydraulic presses (two 6600 ton and two 5000 ton models with free clearance between columns of 2450 mm), 4 five-channel horizontal dryers of width 3000 mm and length 14.15 m, a handling system comprising 15 LGV laser-guided vehicles and a storage plant consisting of 270 roller boxes and platforms with 17 new-generation storage machines. Squaring machines supplied by BMR and lapping machines supplied by Pedrini were also installed in the line.
The entire line is centralised in the "Unico" data collection system tailored by Siti-B&T Group to the needs of Ceramiche Piemme. "Unico" is able to perform advanced analysis of plant efficiency, control, management of production batches and complete and easy-to-understand troubleshooting. The plant was also designed to meet the needs of energy saving. By cutting the number of kilns from 6 to 4, the company will be able to reduce consumption by at least 30%.
