Pierluigi Ponzoni designated Chairman of Acimac

19/04/04 - Pierluigi Ponzoni has been designated as Franco Stefani’s successor at the helm of Acimac, the Italian ceramic plant and machinery manufacturers’ association.

The Board of Directors, meeting on 16 April, designated him as the association’s new Chairman for the four-year term 2004-2008 following a proposal by the Designation Committee.

Pierluigi Ponzoni, 56, married with two children, is chairman of Lema srl of Albavilla (province of Como), a company specialising in the fabrication of moulds and presses for the ceramic industry, founded in 1949 by his father Luigi.
Ponzoni has sat on the Acimac Board of Directors since 2001 as “mould fabricator group” representative.

“The nomination of Pierluigi Ponzoni was approved by numerous members and by the Board of Directors,” explained Ivanno Ligabue, Designation Committee spokesman. “His designation emphasises the role of small businesses within our sector and underscores the representative nature of Acimac for the whole of Italy, not just for companies operating in the ceramic cluster.” Ponzoni will in fact be the first Acimac Chairman who does not live in the Sassuolo cluster.

During the next Board Meeting in May, the Chairman designate will present the programme that he intends to follow during his term in office and the team of vice chairman who will work with him.

The election will be held during the next Annual General Meeting of Members which will be held in Fiorano Modenese the 11th of June.
