Polishing-honing of large panels: Iride chooses Sacmi-Nuova Sima

Sacmi’s range of polishing and honing solutions for large-format ceramic tiles and panels continues to grow, as the latest order supplied by Nuova Sima to Iride - a longstanding ceramic machining company in the Sassuolo district that provides services to the industry’s leading brands - clearly demonstrates.

The supplied plant, which is already running at full capacity, consists of a complete and highly automated line for honing and polishing large-format panels and slabs and is equipped with an automatic handling system to pick up the tiles and feed the machine. The machining centre consists of two units, each equipped with 15 floating heads, allowing for effective, flexible management of widely differing products, including large panels up to 1600x3200 mm in size. The order also includes a cutting line for the production of submultiples and a surface treatment solution which fills microporosity and guarantees long-term cleanability.

Together with the polishing/honing, cutting and finishing line, Nuova Sima also supplied six Surface Inspection brand automatic inspection systems for checking size and colour, making Iride one of the very few companies in the Sassuolo district capable of offering this kind of service.
