Production resumes at Iris factory in Viano

30/06/03 - Production has resumed at the Iris facility (Eiffelgres) at Viano, province of Reggio Emilia, Italy.
After being closed for two years for refurbishing work costing an estimated 60 million euro, in April one production line resumed operation and the first kiln and presses were started up.
When the initial testing stage is complete, the plant will rapidly reach 50% of its potential, producing high-end ceramic products such as through-bodied porcelain tile.
Many of the employees have already returned to work, and others will follow over the next few months until the entire workforce is back.
The factory was officially opened in June in the presence of the president of the European Commission, Romano Prodi.
