Qutone Ceramics started up its second System Lamina plant for the production of large panels
Qutone Ceramics (Ahmedabad, Gujarat, India) successfully started up a second System Lamina porcelain slab production line over the summer with the aim of meeting fast-growing demand while expanding the iMarble range to include even larger size slabs. A pioneer in the Indian large-size slab segment, Qutone was first to introduced slab tiles in India in 2016 with 1200x2400 mm size iMarble. In July this year it began producing the 1200x3600 mm and 1200x3000 mm iMarble slab with a thickness of 6 mm, that were officially launched at Cersaie 2018.
This latest investment brings Qutone’s production capacity in the slab segment to 23,000 sq.m/day, making it one of the largest producers of slab tiles globally. The Indian company’s four factories in Gujarat also produce conventional sizes and have a total capacity of 20 million sq.m/year: Qutone is in fact also a premier manufacturer for 600x1200, 800x800 and 600x600 mm.
Founded in 2008, Qutone has seen rapid growth in recent years, establishing itself in the high-end architecture segment both in India and in international markets. One of India’s top tile exporters, it is also the only Indian company exporting to China and sells its large-size iMarble slabs in more than 60 countries worldwide.
It also saw 46% growth in sales turnover in 2017 to reach US $65 million. The management’s goal is to achieve sales of $155 million by 2020 by virtue of the increased capacity and the collections launched this year.
The brand has established itself amongst the market leaders in the large slab segment thanks to the high quality of its products (certified compliant with ISO 9001, SASO, Bureau Veritas, ISI and CE standards) and the intense R&D work carried out at the group’s research centre in Sassuolo, Italy.
