Rak Ceramics starts up production in tenth factory in UAE

14/07/06 - Rak Ceramics recently started up production at its tenth ceramic tile manufacturing facility in Ras Al Khaimah (UAE).
The new facility, MC9, is equipped with state-of-the-art technologies including dry and wet grinding, a 180.6 metre kiln and Rotocolor machines.
The production capacity of 45,000 sq.m/day will be split between the production of red body tiles in sizes 25x33 cm, 33x33 cm and 41.6x41.6 cm (35,000 sq.m/day) and white body tiles with matt and gloss finish (10,000 sq.m/day). This new facility will increase the Rak Ceramics production capacity at Ras Al Khaimah to 200,000 sq.m/day.

In January this year, Rak Porcelain LLC, a subsidiary of the international giant Rak Ceramics, opened a state-of-the-art tableware plant in the United Arab Emirates.
The opening ceremony was attended by H.H. Sheik Saud Bin Saqr Al Rasimi, Crown Prince of the Emirate of Ras Al Khaimah, Paul Bocuse, universally acknowledged as the father of nouvelle cuisine, and designer Alain Vavro.
The new factory involved an investment of 80 million AED (more than 17 million euro) and will produce high-end vitreous aluminous porcelain tile for the luxury hotel market.
The facility extends over an area of 60,000 sq.m, including 1,000 sq.m of offices. It will have a production capacity of 15 million pieces/year divided into two production lines equipped with the best technologies supplied by the Italian group Sacmi and its German subsidiary Sama. Doubling of capacity is already planned, making Rak Porcelain LLC one of the largest factories in the world.
