Rio Tinto Minerals created

13/01/06 - Rio Tinto, a world leader in the mining and processing of minerals, recently announced that it will be creating a new division called Rio Tinto Minerals (RTM) which will manage and coordinate the activities of the controlled companies Rio Tinto Borax, Luzenac and Dampier Salt.

Gary Goldberg, formerly President and CEO of Borax, has been appointed President and Chief Operating Officer of the new structure, which will be implemented progressively throughout 2006.
Adam Parr, formerly Managing Director of Dampier Salt, has assumed the role of President and Chief Commercial Officer.
Both report directly to Andrew MacKenzie.

Existing corporate legal entities will remain in place and continue to transact business in a manner consistent with the overarching Rio Tinto Minerals vision.
