Rongguan set to begin large-format roof tile production

Guandong Foshan Rongguan Glass Material for Building, located in Foshan in the Guangdong region of China, not only produces high-quality artificial granite slabs and mosaic tiles but has also recently invested in the roof tile business (mainly Japanese “S Type” tiles), an expanding market segment in China.

To meet the growing demand for high-quality roof tiles, last year the company decided to adopt a production line for large-size tiles (10 pieces per sq.m), which would join the two existing lines for more conventional sizes with a capacity of 100,000 tiles per day.

The new line, which was successfully installed in June 2015, produces Portuguese type pressed interlocking roof tiles with a distinct high curve and flat interlocking roof tiles and has a production capacity of 60,000 pieces/day.

One of the key technology partners of the project was Sabo, a Greek company which supplied all the handling equipment. Other suppliers included local companies and the Italian firm Bongioanni, which supplied the extrusion and pressing line.

Sabo and Rongguan worked together closely on the project, jointly deciding all the operating steps through to commissioning, which took place just one year after the contract was signed, a very short timeframe considering the complexity of the project.

Sabo supplied all the handling equipment for the dryer and the kiln, as well as coal gas burners for the tunnel kiln and the kiln car and dryer car handling system.
