Sacmi acquires Laeis Bucher Technology GmbH

23/07/03 - Sacmi Group, a leading international group operating in the ceramic, plastics, filling and packaging and food industries, has made another acquisition. .
The Italian Group and Bucher Industries have signed a letter of intent to negotiate a 100% ownership interest of Sacmi Group in Laeis Bucher Technology GmbH, a leading global supplier of hydraulic presses, kilns and complete plants for the refractory industry.
The company (based in Trier, Germany) produces presses and process technologies in the ceramic industry and other industrial applications including carbon-graphite products and cement bonded construction materials.

Laeis Bucher Technology GmbH will become the centre of competence within the Sacmi group for presses, kilns and complete plants for the refractory industry. Karl Eping will continue to manage the German company�s operations.

The transaction is expected to be concluded by the end of the third quarter of 2003 following the negotiation of a final contract and approval by the respective governmental authorities.

LB Produktion GmbH will not be affected by the planned transaction and will continue to supply its manufacturing and assembly services under a supplier agreement to Laeis Bucher Technology and to third parties.
