Sacmi supplies robotised sanitaryware glazing plant to RAK in India
As part of the ongoing process of modernisation and automation of its sanitaryware manufacturing plants, the RAK Group has installed and started up a new robotized glazing line supplied by Gaiotto at its facility in Samalkot, Andhra Pradesh.
The new line underwent testing in October 2015 and began operation just two months after the start of assembly work, demonstrating just how easily and quickly spraying programmes can be set up thanks to the self-learning system adopted on the GA2000 robot.
The new glazing line consists of a 4-position carousel with an 8-axis Gaiotto GA2000 robot, interfaced with a glaze flow feedback control (Mass control) system. This provides manufacturers with personalised spraying parameters (glaze flow rate, spray aperture, misting) to suit the different kinds of items.
A bar-type conveying system completes the order. Bar conveyors ensure automatic loading and unloading of pieces on the 4-position carousel by means of an angular transfer unit with 3 electrical axes. The various working positions are controlled by an encoder and safety limit switches. Handling is inverter-controlled by the integrated production centre PLC. Finally, the integrated production centre is Ethernet-interfaced to provide Sacmi-Gaiotto tele-assistance services.
