Sergio Sassi on the board of Confindustria

26/05/04 - The Italian ceramic tile industry has established a place on the board of Confindustria through its representative Sergio Sassi.

On the occasion of Luca di Montezemolo’s installation as Chairman of Confindustria (General Confederation of Italian Industry), Sergio Sassi, chairman of Assopiastrelle and managing director of Emilceramica, has been appointed to the confederation’s executive board.

Sergio Sassi, 47, was first elected chairman of Assopiastrelle on 16 May 2001 after filling the post of vice chairman for promotional activities and trade fairs for the two previous two-year periods. Sergio Sassi has held numerous roles in trade associations.
Formerly a board member of the Industry Tradeshow Committee of Confindustria, he is currently on both the Board and the Presidential Committee of Confindustria Emilia Romagna.
He was also a founding member of Faber, the association responsible for promoting business culture in the Emilia-Romagna region under the aegis of Confindustria .

Emilceramica, a company founded in 1961 and based in Fiorano Modenese, closed fiscal 2003 with a consolidated turnover of 170 million euro (+9.1%), a 60% export share, an output of more than 14 million square metres of tiles and just over 900 employees.
The Group is engaged in a joint production venture with the leading US tile manufacturer Dal Tile in Muskogee, Oklahoma.
Another joint venture in Ukraine with a leading clay quarrying company will shortly result in a production unit being built near Slovyansk in the Doniez region.
