Sergio Sassi confirmed chairman of Assopiastrelle for the next two years05/05/2003 - During the meeting of 29 April, the Executive Board of Assopiastrelle unanimously approved the reconfirmation of current chairman Sergio Sassi for the two-year period 2003-2004. The Italian ceramic tile manufacturers' association announced that following detailed discussions with the association's members, the designation committee - coordinated by Enzo Mularoni and consisting of vice-chairmen Alberto Spallanzani and Giuseppe Pifferi - named Sassi as the sole candidate.

In accordance with the articles of association, the candidature will now be proposed to the members' meeting, which will vote on the chairman and the members of the new Executive Board on 26 May.

Sergio Sassi, 45, was unanimously elected Assopiastrelle chairman for the first time on 16 May 2001 after holding the position of vice-chairman with responsibility for Promotional Activities and Trade Fairs for the two previous two-year periods. Amongst his many appointments with associations, Sassi - formerly a director of the Industrial Trade Fair Committee for Confindustria (Confederation of Italian Industry) - is currently a director and member of the presidential committee of the Emilia Romagna Industrial Federation.
