Sustainability and digital transformation: further target for Ibstock Group
Ibstock was awarded the 2022 Manufacturer of the Year at the Business Green awards, in recognition of its industry leadership for environmental sustainability.
2022 was a year of strong progress for Ibstock Group in terms of sustainability, with improvement in all areas: health, safety and wellbeing, operational excellence and environmental performance. The ESG 2030 strategy met further targets including an absolute carbon reduction of 13% relative to the 2019 baseline, while remaining focused on achieving the ambition of a 40% reduction by 2030.
Noteworthy achievements in the year included a 31% reduction in mains water use and a 16% reduction in plastic packaging (with both metrics calculated per tonne of production against a 2019 baseline).

The digital transformation of business activities will be a key strategic enabler over the coming years. During 2022, the group appointed a new Chief Information and Digital Officer (CIDO) tasked with defining a medium-term digital transformation programme. Key aims will include standardising core platforms and ways of working to improve efficiency and reduce complexity.
