System Ceramics amongst the leaders of Italian technology

The Genesis patent is featured in an exhibition entitled “Italy, Land of Patents. Successful Inventions and Innovations” held at the Ministry of Enterprise and Made in Italy.

Genesis, the innovative technology developed by Coesia Group member company System Ceramics, is featured in an exhibition entitled “Italy, Land of Patents. Successful Inventions and Innovations” which opened recently in Palazzo Piacentini in Rome, the headquarters of the Ministry of Enterprise and Made in Italy (MIMIT).

The exhibition, open to the public at weekends until March 2025, commemorates the 140th anniversary of the Italian Patent and Trademark Office and the 550th anniversary of the first Patent Statute, issued by the Republic of Venice in 1474. Through a display of over 100 patents, the exhibition explores the evolution of Italian ingenuity, its impact on society and the pivotal role it has played in driving Italy’s industrial progress at an international level.

Within this context, Genesis exemplifies the Italian ceramic industry’s commitment to innovation and entrepreneurial vision.

“This patent is the result of years of research and a future-oriented business mindset,” says Luca Bazzani, CEO of System Ceramics. “Genesis represents a milestone in decorative technologies for an industry that is increasingly dynamic, customised and sustainable. Being featured in this exhibition is an extremely important recognition. Genesis truly exemplifies the excellence of Made in Italy.”

Officially unveiled as a prototype in 2022, Genesis has redefined the standards and concept of digital decoration in the ceramic industry. Functioning as both a pressing element and a digital printer, it enables high-end ceramic companies to achieve full-body three-dimensional decoration, with digital control of coloured spray-dried powders applied to specific points on the slab according to the desired graphics. Equipped with a powder printhead system without moving parts, Genesis ensures exceptional reliability and precision, allowing for the creation of sophisticated material effects such as marble and natural stone throughout the thickness of the slab. Recent upgrades have further enhanced its performance, including an advanced vision system for real-time monitoring of material discharge and an automatic printhead cleaning mechanism that eliminates defects, ensuring superior results.

Thanks to its innovative characteristics, Genesis has taken ceramics to a new level – both higher and different. Higher, by enhancing the role of ceramics as a floor and wall covering material; and different, by allowing it to enter the world of interior design, where it serves as a furnishing solution for applications such as countertops, worktops, kitchen tops and interior surfaces.
