System Group showcases the GEA ceramic process at MADE expo
High-definition digital printing was used to reproduce texts and images on the 30 ceramic slabs made with System's Lamina GEA press, to illustrate all the steps involved in the creation of modern ceramic products: from the raw material to grinding, feeding, pressing, drying, glazing, decoration, firing, quality control, packing, handling and the various applications.
On entry, visitors first saw the ceramic slabs made by System, before following the Made4Ceramics trail, which stretched over 1000 square metres. The four sections of the trail - Life Cycles, Smart Skin, New Ground and Hi Decorations - incorporated 45 ceramic best practices, 12 international architects, 5 artists, 3 laboratories, 3 schools and 2 historical exhibitions, all presenting the best ceramic solutions for construction and architecture.
The authors of the featured designs included architects such as Gio Ponti and Alvar Aalto. Their designs were reproduced on ceramic slabs using a photographic technique, rendered through skilful use of chemical processes. There was also a display of other projects in progress, managed by architectural firms and Italian and international ceramics schools.
