System, Sacmi, BMR and Marazzi amongst award winners at Green Economy Festival
The District Green Economy Festival, four days of meetings and debates on how and to what extent the green economy can be a development opportunity for Italian ceramics and for ceramic manufacturing district’s economy, came to an end on Sunday 9 October in Fiorano Modenese. The initiative was concluded by the presentation of Green Economy Awards to the companies that have most successfully combined Italian technology and aesthetics with environmental sustainability
The award ceremony, conducted by scientific journalist Maurizio Melis from the Radio 24 programme Mr. Kilowatt, saw the participation of the chairman of the Legislative Assembly of Emilia-Romagna Matteo Richetti, the mayor of Sassuolo Luca Caselli, the mayor of Castellarano Gian Luca Rivi and the mayor of Castelvetro Giorgio Montanari.
The Green Technology category was won by System Group with 4 Phases, a highly innovative project that guarantees process optimisation and resource savings and recovery. Sacmi Forni gained second place with Eco Kiln, a kiln that allows for high operating flexibility and emissions reductions. A special mention went to BMR for its innovative diamond disc, which offers a squaring process with lower than standard consumption.
The winner of the Green Product category was Climatica Group with “Insulating bioceramics”, an outstanding product in terms of originality, innovation and green economy criteria. Marazzi was second with Touch, a product with high technological and aesthetic content for home automation.
The Green Management category for the most virtuous companies in terms of certification of factories and production facilities was won by Keope, followed by Coem and Panaria joint second. A special mention went to Florim for its sustainability balance.
Lastly, special mentions for the Other green economy areas category went to: Associazione Terrae Novae, Gruppo Concorde, EcoCer dei F.lli Cottafava, Ecotecnomat and Eco-Arca.
