Tiles speak Russian at Mosbuild

21/03/07 MosBuild 2007, the largest construction and interior finishing exhibition in Eastern Europe, will be held in Moscow from 3 to 6 April in the two exhibition centres Expocentr and Crocus. Ceramic & Stone, Santechnika and Technoceramica, the exhibiting areas devoted respectively to ceramic tiles, bathroom furniture and production technologies, will as usual be held inside Expocentr next to the river Moskva.

Following the opening of new pavilion 8, the exhibition space assigned ceramic tiles and bathroom furniture will be around 40,000 sq.m, over half of the entire space available at Expocentr.
The two shows are attracting increasing attention from international ceramic companies.

This year, 70 Italian ceramic tile manufacturers will be taking part, almost all of them in the large Ceramic Tiles of Italy pavilion, the largest foreign contingent at the show. Spain will likewise be well represented with 49 companies in the Tile of Spain pavilion. Delegations of German and Turkish tile manufacturers will also be taking part, with 10 and 7 companies respectively.

As a further demonstration of the interest in this market, Ascer (Spanish ceramic tile manufacturers' association) and Icex (Spanish foreign trade institute) have sponsored the first edition of ArchCeramica in conjunction with the International association of architects from the former Soviet Republics, ITE and the Russian magazine Sovremenny Dom. This is a competition for architectural and interior design projects carried out during the past year in Russia and former Soviet bloc countries and displaying a creative and innovative use of ceramic materials.

Italy will also be a key player at Technoceramica, the section devoted to ceramic industry technologies at Expocentr. Acimac (Association of Italian Manufacturers of Machinery and Equipment for Ceramics) and the Italian Trade Commission ICE have organised a pavilion hosting about 30 companies, approximately half of the exhibitors at Technoceramica.

Industrie Cibec - Welko, Italforni, Manfredini & Schianchi, Martinelli Ettore, Mass, Messersì, Newtech, Melco, Nuova Fima, Piccinini Impianti, Pragma, Sacmi Imola, System, Tecnema, Tyrolit Vincent.

The Russian Ceramic tile marketThe growing number of international companies electing to take part in Mosbuild is a direct result of the current boom in the local ceramic sector.

Ceramic tile consumption has grown exponentially over the past ten years, and is set to continue in 2007/2008 with increases of more than 11% per year, to reach a figure of 170.3 million sq.m., according to estimates in the World Ceramic Tile Market Forecast, presented each year by Assopiastrelle and Prometeia. Having said that, consumption per capita remains among the lowest in Eastern Europe, at just 0.92 sq.m. in 2005.
Growth in local production is equally impressive, and reached 100 million sq.m. in 2005.
