Torrecid acquires Reimbold & Strick

17/01/06 - At the end of 2005 the Spanish group Torrecid, a leading manufacturer of frits, glazes and colours for the ceramic industry, finalised its acquisition of Reimbold & Strick, a major German glaze manufacturer with branches in Spain (Colores Ceramicos Tortosa), Italy (Reimbold & Strick Italia) and Portugal (CCT Portugal Productos Cerámicos).
The German group closed fiscal 2004 with a consolidated turnover of 48 million euro, 8.1% up on the previous year.

The acquisition is part of the growth programme that Torrecid has been pursuing over the past few years (2004 turnover 267.9 million euro, 2% up on the previous year) and is expected to raise the Spanish group’s turnover to more than 300 million euro.
Torrecid has branches in 14 different countries and has expanded its operations in Asia (China, Taiwan and Thailand), Poland, Czech Republic (through the 2003 acquisition of Glazura, the leading local manufacturer of glazes, colours and precious metals for the ceramic and glass industries), and the UK (through the acquisition of Surcotech, a producer of precious metals for ceramic, glaze and porcelain, at the end of 2004).
