Torrecid celebrates 50th anniversary and looks to the future
Torrecid Group is celebrating its 50th anniversary this year. Building on its past success, it is now looking to the future and new challenges with a view to consolidating its current world leadership in the ceramic sector. Originally set up as a small family-run company, Torrecid is now a multinational with 32 companies operating in 23 different countries and with exports to more than 100 countries worldwide. This success is based on a corporate philosophy that has held strong throughout half a century of history, a steady, clear and powerful commitment to innovation and a quest for solutions that bring competitiveness and added value.
The monoporosa tile production technology pioneered by Torrecid was a truly revolutionary innovation. Another milestone came more recently, in 2004, when the group developed its groundbreaking digital decoration technology based on Inkcid® pigmented inks, followed in 2008 by the development of Slimcid® low-thickness ceramic bodies. The combination of the two products launched new manufacturing trends, resulting in more elaborate products aimed at architects and interior designers. In recent years, the development of digital technology has led to the development of new products such as Keramcid®, Metalcid® (metallic effect) and Smart-Cid® (third fire) inks and Decal-Cid® digital decals.
The next big step forward came in 2013 with the development of Full Digital Ceramics for entirely digital glazing and decoration using the new D.G-CID® and T.M-CID® digital glazes, which cover the entire range of finishes and aesthetic potential. Its many advantages in terms of products, processes and management make it a new revolution in the ceramic sector: from a drastic reduction in length of the glazing line (from 150 to 15 metres) to the ease and flexibility of changeover and development of new models, reduction in rejects, the possibility of obtaining different finishes on the same piece and selective glazing of high and low relief zones.
The Torrecid digital revolution culminates with Style-Cid®, a solution focusing on elaborate designs and strong creativity that has enabled the Spanish company to set future trends.
