UMI expands with Barbieri & Tarozzi
The contract, the largest investment made by a Thai ceramic company in 2003, is for the supply of a complete plant consisting of three production lines, to become operative in three different stages.
The first and second stages of the plant will be implemented by the end of 2004, while the third stage will come on stream in January 2005.
Once the plant is fully operative, UMI will have a total production of 36,000 sq.m/day of glazed floor tiles, 90% higher than current output.
When signing the contract, the Barbieri & Tarozzi Group's chairman Fausto Tarozzi thanked his staff, then declared his confidence that the agreement would mark the beginning of a long and constructive relationship with the Thai company.
Paweena Laowiwatwong, chairman of UMI, commented: "After detailed evaluation, we chose B & T as our technological partner. Given the Group's 40 years of experience, I can be certain about the reliability of their machinery, which will allow us to manufacture high-quality products."
