Wienerberger invests in Hungary
The excellent results achieved in 2003 are largely due to the economic recovery in western Europe and the strong performance of the building sector in Eastern European countries, particularly the Czech Republic, Slovakia and Hungary.
Given the potential shown by these markets, the Wienerberger group has announced that it will be building a new production facility with a capacity of 140 million pieces a year at Tiszavasvar in Hungary.
This investment comes as part of the strategic aims of Wienerberger, which has set itself the ambitious goal for 2004 of increasing both operating earnings and earnings per share by more than 10%.
Measures to achieve this goal will include various smaller bolt-on projects with an investment volume of 150 million euro along with investments of approximately 300 million euro in the development of core business.
