NIV: multifunctional single-mould device for sanitary casting
This is the classic set-up for a high-pressure (up to 15 bar) single-mould casting machine with total working clearance. It is able to clamp moulds with a force which can reach 240 tonnes (the maximum so far achieved in the industry) in the largest versions. This machine is available in 4 versions with 60, 120, 180 or 240 ton clamping force. The total working clearance of the crossbeam, free from the central cylinder, means that in the largest machine model the moulds have a surface of 25,000 cm2. Depending on the size of the workpieces and the machine, it is possible to install either one large mould, 2 medium-sized moulds or 4 small moulds. This means that a wide range of sanitaryware items can be manufactured using the same machine: pedestals, flushing cisterns, lids, shower trays, washbasins, consoles and kitchen sinks.
The fixed crossbeam is provided with a rotary device which serves to carry out demoulding in a horizontal or vertical position depending on requirements. The rotary device also allows mould changing to be performed in a horizontal position for speed and safety. The mould installation operation is faster and more precise; the moulds are suspended from above while they rest on the work surface; the access area is large and convenient; and the mould on one machine module can be changed while the others continue to operate.
The maximum mould changeover time is from 30 to 45 minutes.
The in-depth section contains a description of NIV
With its thirty years of experience in the sector, the company can offer solutions for any production requirement in either the traditional casting segment (with Loprem low-pressure plaster or resin moulds) or in the medium and high-pressure casting segment with resin moulds.
Following the acquisition by the Sacmi Group in 1997 and the incorporation of NIV Verona into the Group’s Whiteware division, the company has been able to concentrate all its resources in the sanitaryware casting sector and to optimise technical and design aspects through synergies with the Group’s technical staff.
