Tecnargilla Preview - Imerys Ceramics: Super FFC™, the next generation for Fine Fireclay.
At Tecnargilla, Imerys (Hall B4, Stand 020) is unveiling Super FFC™, the product that it considers to be the next generation for Fine Fireclay.
In recent years, Imerys Ceramics has conducted considerable research into the development of a new prepared body which would offer sanitaryware producers the advantages of fine fireclay (FFC), particularly in terms of design, while minimising the difficulties often associated with handling FFC pieces. The results of this innovative project, which Imerys calls Super Fine Fireclay (Super-FFC), are being presented at the Imerys stand at Tecnargilla where visitors can handle pieces produced with the new Super-FFC body in order to see the exciting potential of this innovation for themselves.
FFC is already well known for enabling the production of the most modern designs and functional pieces in a wide variety of shapes and sizes. Super Fine Fireclay improves on this by taking on some of the benefits that would normally be seen in vitreous bodies, such as: good fluidity, which makes a Super-FFC piece much easier to handle both before and after drying; finer particle size, which ensures that the finish of Super-FFC pieces looks and feels much more like vitreous china, which facilitates glaze application.
Raffaele Ceccarelli, Technical Sales Manager, believes: “FFC bodies with a particle size of 300 microns will very soon be a thing of the past thanks to Super Fine Fireclay.” Sergio Carabelli, General Manager, adds: “We are very pleased to present Super Fine Fireclay at Tecnargilla and are looking forward to demonstrating its benefits. However, innovation is an ongoing focus for us and we aim to continue to make breakthroughs which make a real difference for our customers.”
