Tecno Diamant presents Silente
The patent-pending new grinding wheel reduces noise on ceramic tile and slab dry squaring lines.
Tecno Diamant, a specialist in the production of diamond tools for ceramic surface finishing, has focused on developing increasingly sustainable solutions in recent years. Its latest and most innovative research project has led to the creation of grinding wheels that reduce noise on squaring lines, helping to ensure a more comfortable working environment for operators. The protection and well-being of the worker are increasingly central issues in all ceramic grinding departments, and noise emission is contained through the use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and the installation of soundproofing booths.
Tecno Diamant launched this research project in the second half of 2024 in collaboration with a leading manufacturer of ceramic finishing machines which was interested in exploring potential solutions for users of the latest dry squaring lines. Since this issue had never been specifically addressed before, developing the new tool required several months of work, including extensive laboratory studies and three successive testing phases on a squaring line at an Italian ceramic company. The results exceeded expectations: for the same tile type, processing speed and removal capacity, the new Silente grinding wheel achieved a 7.5 decibel noise reduction.
Unlike conventional grinding wheels, which consist of a single solid body, the patent-pending Silente has been developed with a body designed to disrupt sound waves.
Silente also delivers excellent technical performance. It enhances cutting capacity without compromising speed or removal efficiency, while maintaining outstanding product quality free from defects or corner chipping.
Research into Silente technology applies to all three types of grinding wheels produced by Tecno Diamant: metal alloy wheels, used in the initial roughing phase of squaring; hybrid wheels consisting of a combination of metal and resinoid bonds; and resinoid wheels, used in the final cleaning phase. Silente feature a universal fitting and is compatible with all types of squaring machines on the market.
