New tile import tariffs in the Philippines
However, according to the Italian Trade Commission (ICE) branch in Manila, imports from Japan and the European Union will not be affected by the new tariffs as products from these areas are not deemed to be in direct competition with Philippine products. Italian tiles account for 3% and Spanish tiles 9% of total ceramic tile imports to the Philippines. The new protectionist measures will add to those already in force for tiles from China, Hong Kong, Malaysia, Taiwan and Indonesia.
