Alfonso Panzani elected chairman of CET

Alfonso Panzani, past chairman of Confindustria Ceramica and currently chairman of Gruppo Ceramiche Ricchetti, has been elected chairman of the European ceramic tile manufacturers’ federation CET for the three year period 2010 – 2012. Only two other Italians have previously held this important position: Antonio Orienti and Oscar Zannoni.

Alfonso Panzani, 57, has a degree in Economics and Commerce and boasts extensive experience within trade associations. First elected a member of the Executive Board of Assopiastrelle in 1986, he served as chairman in the period 2005 – 2009, during which time he oversaw the association’s transformation into Confindustria Ceramica, the association of manufacturers of ceramic tiles, refractory materials, ceramic sanitaryware, tableware and technical ceramics. He has served as Chairman of Gas Intensive, the intersectoral consortium for natural gas purchasing, since its foundation and has also previously been a member of the Executive Boards of Cer-Energia and Cofim, as well as a member of the board of CFI, the Confindustria organisation that represents trade fair organising associations.
