Alteo and Ginet Group join forces in the Chinese market
Alteo and Ginet have set up a joint venture in China to facilitate the introduction of lithium batteries into the local market.
Alteo-Ginet (Suzhou) Lithium Battery Material Technology is the new joint venture set up in Suzhou, near Shanghai, by the French group Alteo and Suzhou Ginet New Materials Technology, a hi-tech company founded in 2005 specialising in the production of inorganic non-metallic materials.
The aim is to accelerate the penetration of Alteo products in the fast-growing local lithium battery market. Alteo provides its expertise in the production of super-fine aluminas, which are already used in surface coatings for lithium-ion battery separators and electrodes, while Ginet provides the industrial capacity needed to grind alumina powder made by the Alteo plant in Gardanne, France.
With a production capacity of over 500,000 tonnes/year and a turnover of 220 million euros, Alteo is a leading producer of high-value specialty aluminas with a unique range of materials for manufacturing sectors, including ceramics, refractories and specialty glass.
