Betta Sanitaryware: a 10-year partnership with Sacmi
Sacmi is continuing to collaborate with the South African giant Betta Sanitaryware in a 10-year partnership that has seen the installation of 115 plants in 12 different countries worldwide, most recently an AVM high-pressure WC casting machine with porous resin moulds. This cutting-edge machine stands out for its high degree of flexibility with a multitude of possible configurations and for the specifications of the casting module, which allows for pre-drying of the pieces in air-conditioned and hyperventilated spaces and loading of the dryer bar cars. The modules also allow for automatic green finishing of the pieces and, in the configuration in which each casting module is associated with a robot, it is even possible to proceed with piece finishing in completely automatic mode.
The AVM 150 is suitable for the production of all types of WC. It casts a mould that is divided into a number of parts ranging from 4 (simple open-rim WC) to 7 (closed-rim floor-mounted WC). The key strength of the technology lies in the fact that the rim is glued on while the piece is still held in the mould. Another key aspect is the enormous attention that Sacmi engineers have devoted to the machine service robots. The chosen solution was to design flexible robots that can either simply perform the glue application and demoulding operations or also handle piece maturing in static storage facilities, depending on the customer’s needs for automation.
To make this enormous range of configurations possible, the AVM 150 is equipped with advanced and user-friendly control software. The ceramic supports have also been redesigned to allow for a high degree of flexibility in terms of the type of product being manufactured.
