Ceramica Almeida (Brazil) doubles capacity
The Almeida Group, a leading Brazilian tile manufacturer founded in 1938, recently launched a programme to double its large-format floor tile production which should lead to a monthly output of 2.5 million sq.m.
To achieve this objective the company commissioned Manfredini & Schianchi to double the capacity of the dry body preparation department at the factory in Santa Gertrudes (São Paulo). Designed for a level of production of 50 ton/h, it consists of two pre-milling hammer mills and ten MS265 high-productivity sieves which transfer the material to a Molomax MS-6/190 pendular mill, served by a high-pressure process filter. Molomax mills are designed to deliver a high output (by increasing the size of the grinding components) together with low energy consumption. After grinding, the next stage of the plant is granulation which is performed by the Forgia MS38 wetting machines, capable of forming a granular body that increases the quality of ceramic products at the pressing stage.
