Cevisama 2022 has been cancelled
The announcement was made following an extraordinary meeting of the organizing committee held on 31 March. The exhibition has been rescheduled for 27 February to 3 March 2023.
The severe energy crisis, aggravated by the war in Ukraine, has forced Feria Valencia to cancel the 2022 edition of Cevisama. The show had been due to run from 13 to 17 June after being moved from its traditional dates in February. The decision to cancel the show was taken at an extraordinary meeting of the organizing committee held on the morning of 31 March. The next Cevisama will now be held from 27 February to 3 March 2023.
After previous postponements caused by the Covid-19 pandemic, Cevisama 2022 has now been cancelled due to the current state of uncertainty facing the ceramic industry. The war in Ukraine has exacerbated the energy crisis affecting ceramic manufacturers since the middle of last year. At the same time, gas prices have soared unsustainably, compounded by the impossibility of obtaining supplies of Ukrainian clays and the general increase in costs of other raw materials and logistics. This has forced many Spanish ceramic companies to stop production and place some of their workforce on furlough.
According to the press release published by Cevisama, the situation was causing exhibitors to pull out of the show, and despite the fact that 25% more visitors had pre-registered than for previous editions it was no longer feasible to hold the event.
“We regret the problems the cancellation may cause, but we are facing an emergency situation that prevents us from going ahead with the industry’s grand re-grouping we were so looking forward to. We do not want to let down the trade visitors who come every year from all over the world,” says Cevisama director Carmen Álvarez.
