Esan opens new feldspar factory
The Istanbul-based company Esan Eczacibasi, one of the world’s largest feldspar producers, opened a new plant at Yenikoy, Turkey in the second half of 2008. This second plant has increased Esan’s production capacity from 400,000 to 650,000 ton/year and will enable it to satisfy the strong demand from the ceramic (tiles and sanitaryware) and glass industries. In 2008, the company exported more than 1.2 million tons of feldspar, mostly to Italy, Spain, Russia, the Middle East and North Africa. Alongside its facilities in Turkey, Esan also has a number of foreign branches: Esan Italia Minerals in Sassuolo, Esan Ukraine in Kiev, Esan Egypt in Cairo and Esan Shanghai Office in China.
